Kamehameha

Ok, I admit it... I went completely overboard with this... But it was so much fun!! Probably the first and only time in my life that I turn Super Saiyan...

Lamp Post

I really like the lampposts we have here. I might have used too much contrast on here... but I like it that way! the clouds look so menacing, I wanted to highlight that, and add some blue hues... just because.

Chinese Chess

I am not ashamed to say that I bought this on a whim. It rarely happens. I just found those so beautiful, I decided to get them. Of course I can't play chess, never mind Chinese ones. And I don't even know the pieces. All I recognise is the kanji for horse (right at the front).
Of course, they were cheap ;) I might use them again for other shots.
Unbeknownst to me again - fits in the DS for today!

Bluesy

This is not really what I had in mind, but I guess it's pretty close.
I've had this harmonica for ages, I've brought it along during all my moves... I can barely play it but I'm hoping that one day... Anyway, I just wanted to showcase the instrument because it looks pretty cool. I also wanted an old feel, so I added a texture. Don't know if I succeeded.
This project is a lot about trying out new things, experimenting, daring, learning. So far, I'm having a lot of fun.

Another goofy shot with a fancy hat. Just because I felt like it.

Tuk-Tuk Reflection

Was at the coffee place today, and they had those cool reflections on the lamps above. I tried to capture the movement and distortion of one.

An attempt at editing with stock pictures. Not sure if it worked.
Continuing my "Spirituality" series...

Round Lamps

We had lunch somewhere new, and the decoration there was bold and daring. I especially liked those lamps. They almost look like a giant neon "No Entry" sign.

Closed Window

I used for the first time today a tool called "perspective"... I tried to make the picture "flatter"...
Window seen at the monastery. I like the colours and details.

Container

I tried doing something else, but it failed miserably. Will try again tomorrow.
This is me at sunset, on my balcony... I have those two huge containers on either side. I believe one of them contains water.

L'Occulte

What we don't understand sometimes fascinated us even more.
Paying tributes to my origins, continuing a spirituality series I just realised I had started... and playing around with a lot of editing.

Happy/Sad

I know the title is not all that and a packet of crisps... That's all I could find.
Another scene by the riverside... there's a lot going on there. Lots of unspoken drama. This one was too blatant to pass by.
I tried desaturating the picture the other way around, but it didn't work.

Excuse My French

I was shooting this video today that was so arty-farty (me reciting a poem while playing the ukelele in my bathroom) that I decided I *had* to have the appropriate headgear for such pompous pretense. So I donned my beret. And voila! The occasion also called for a pompous portrait. I went for a blase look and I think it works well, if I say so myself!
The cigarette is unlit, as you noticed. I tried using fake smoke but it looked too fake.
I like the phrase "excuse my French", I find it rather funny and have been using it on occasion.

Mind's Eye

This is not exactly what I had in mind, but time was running out. I'm glad I tried it though.
I have noticed that lately, I've been inspired quite a bit. I have tons of ideas for pieces, videos, even photos sometimes! So this is my way of saying that it's really cool.

Little Guy

My husband's colleague's daughters found this cat lying around at the school. He looked very weak and skinny. We bought him a can of tuna, and he was happy as can be. We couldn't take him home though. That said, I miss having a cat.
Funnily enough, we also met another cat that looked like his grand-pa, and was blind in one eye.

Crossover

Where the Tonle Sap meets the Mekong. SOOC.
The river has been going up a lot lately, it's not threatening for the moment, but we'll see how it goes. There was quite a bit of current and some tiny waves as well. The sky was wonderful.

Truth Hurts

I have talked about it before. I make videos (12th June). Most of the time, like here, I do poetry.
Here I am, getting ready to deliver my latest piece (same name as this). Video can be watched here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyUPNsVnieA

Behind the Music

I hadn't done that sort of chiaroscuro shot in a while. I missed it, I actually quite like them.
This is SOOC, the flare and slight bokeh are real. I wanted my face to be slightly in the background, like an afterthought.
Expect more pictures of Lyla and me... She's very esthetic.

Four In A Row

I thought they were funny, all together like that, like organ pipes. They were mesmerised by something. They stood like that for a few minutes. I think they give a good representation of elderly people travelling around SEA, enjoying their retirement. Makes a nice change from the old pervs you meet sometimes, a 20 year-old girl under each arm.
PS: contrast, lightness, saturation.

This looks blurry, almost like a painting... I wanted that softness. I decided to play around with the lens and a silk scarf.

Hooverbulous

I finally got a hoover! Adios, old crummy broom (Rock'N'Broom, 4th June & Cleaning, 21st May).
It looks like I'm kissing it, but I was pretending to blow on it like you blow the smoke of a gun.

Magritte

I've been writing a short text for a friend's upcoming zine, a surrealistic story about apples and men in bowler hats, heavily inspired by Magritte. I love his work, and surrealism in general. I wanted to give a painting feel to the picture, so I partially desaturated it and then used a "painting filter", except for the apple. I actually increased the contrast on it to make it stand out more and play on the aspects of reality and dream.
OK, I'm done being pompous :p

Fire

These days, people started burning papers and stuff on their balcony... I don't know exactly why, I suspect a Buddhist festival but didn't find anything concrete. Last night, at around 2 am, I saw this guy burning stuff in two big piles on a balcony that is otherwise closed by a gate... It looked like some sort of mafia thing, it weirded me out...
PT: colouring, crop, border.

East Harlem

I had this song in my head all day. It's a pretty neat tune.
As most of Beirut's songs and videos are/look nostalgic/oldish, I went for an old summer feel... Not sure if that's what comes through!

Pall Mall

Heads and tails... A funny story about this lighter: I thought when I arrived in France that it had been taken by the customs, but once back home, I saw it on the terrace. It hadn't been blown away or taken by a bird or anything; it seems it had been waiting for me all along, during those five weeks... And as I'd wanted to take a picture of it for a while, I took the opportunity that we were reunited to do so.
PS: That is completely a product placement shot.
