Girl Over Flowers

Today was the last day of school, yay!! As a result, we got different gifts (chocolates, a scarf and this bouquet). You can also see me wearing the set I showed you in the previous picture.
Title comes from a K-drama. I've been watching those a lot. I'm addicted!

Beads

This is a set (necklace, bracelet and earrings) a good friend made for my birthday last year. I think the colours look beautiful together.

Lightbulbs

Saw those guys while sitting at a terrace. I'd been in the area lots of time, but never noticed them before. Probably because I never looked up! I'm pretty sure they don't work.

Smash

I just don't kill mosquitoes, I smash them into the other world. They literally buzz off.

Solo/Duo

Went out for coffee and I saw those people through the window of the coffee place. I thought there was a funny contrast going on between the single guy on the left and the couple of the right. Then the guy standing underneath the tree also came and stood for several minutes looking at the couple. They pretended he wasn't there. It's pretty uncomfortable having someone stare at you like that. Can't even begin to imagine what he was thinking.

Card

The colleague I'm replacing had her baby last week. To celebrate (and because we have more time now the year is ending), I decided it would be a good idea to make cards for her. I thought this one was particularly cute.

Lalala

I had this idea today for a composition... And I had this song stuck in my head too... So all together, it became this. "Ra ra ra" in katakana, the equivalent of "la la la" (if I'm not mistaken).

Fistful of Riel

Got inspired by the talented Lonyl (http://www.flickr.com/photos/husomlykkjun/)... and the fact that I have lots of riel (16,000 riels, about 4 bucks).

Under Construction

This afternoon, we decided to just take a tuk-tuk and go wherever. This is one of the things we saw on the way. We went places we hadn't been to, including a small island that is accessible by bridge. It was like going to the countryside, it was very peaceful... only 10 minutes away from our home.
PS: just checked, and it falls in the DS assignment for today! (http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/588) I'm too good.

Monkeying Around

We got abruptly woken up at 5:20 in the morning... by monkeys jumping around on the roofs and being very noisy, shaking TV antennae like coconut trees...
Then again at 3:30 pm, baby monkeys were flying about, screeching at each other. They were very quick, this is one of the few photos that were somewhat good. I picked this one because of the houses.

Gifts

I received two parcels today! One with a Peruvian chuyo (amongst other things), one with a handmade wallet made out of a cat food bag. Neat!! I have great friends :)

Last Show

Tonight was the last night that we had end of the year shows. My husband's class (not pictured here) did a song, then the other 1st graders had a little expressive play about a fat mouse. It was very cute and well done. Another good evening.

Grain

And this is me being completely tired after the show. It kinda looks like I'm smelling my armpit but I like the grain, so I kept it.

Circus

The kindergarten section at our school did a circus-themed show and we went because I like the circus and little cute kids :p
I stood on a chair most of the time (nearly an hour) and this is one of the pics I could salvage. All the others were too blurry or too light... this doesn't really show the stage but rather the atmosphere, the crowd... it was a good evening.

Monkeys on the Roof

Today, on the way home, our tuk-tuk stopped and the driver gestured upwards. I looked up and saw this. Then I saw more monkeys scattered on the same roof and nearby roofs... about 20, maybe more. They looked belligerent and very pissed off at something. My husband said he saw a guy carrying a dead (possibly stunned) monkey and a man with a tranquilising gun in the street. I tried to take a picture of him but there was too much traffic.
We are getting more and more monkeys where we live, by the riverside. And we have to be careful as I know they will attack people where they're hungry or even try to steal stuff. They are cute, but from a distance...

I suddenly wanted to do a doorframe picture with a silhouette in view. And I did.

School Play

Today we had the chance to watch the last rehearsal of a play the Grade 2 students made. It was a reworked version of Little Red Riding Hood, and it was quite enjoyable. Here you see LRRH going to the city because she's fed up of her old countryside.
This was probably the best school play I ever saw, but then again, I haven't seen that many! I didn't expect it to be that good, and there was also a connection, as I have taught most of those kids at some point.

Pirogue

This morning, just after I got up, I went down to the riverside to take pictures of the boats. This one came out best. It's the first time I actually went out in a given spot just to take pictures.

One of my pupils gave me those stars. They glitter a bit and they each have a letter of my name written on. I thought it was very sweet.

---

I'm not pleased with this shot... One out of two today.
I wanted to express something... I hesitated between different titles, but ended up choosing none. I'll let the viewer decide what they see in this.
I wish there was more empty space on the right.

Cyclo Tourism

Can I say that I'm pleased with this shot? I'm quite pleased with this shot. :p
Sometimes I see those groups of cyclos going around town with barangs (foreigners) in them. They're doing a "slow tour" of Phnom Penh, all in line, wearing the same shirts. I'm glad I could catch one of them. And yes, I was on the tuk-tuk again!

Old & Modern

Phnom Penh is a city of contrasts. This is a good example: what looks like it used to be a very chic place, now falling apart, mounted with billboards for beauty products.

Drying Noodles

I like how food is everywhere here. Literally. You will be sitting at a restaurant and a street vendor is gonna walk by, or even set up camp in front of the restaurant. And it doesn't bother anyone.
I love the colour of those noodles. You also get a reflection of myself thrown in. I didn't notice it until I edited the picture.

I just felt like doing a simple selfportrait, showcasing the light of the sunset and my bamboo fence.
Plus, I'm finally done with the report cards, and my contract has been renewed for next year. Ready to enjoy the weekend!

Oisillon

I saw this little birdie (oisillon) early this morning at work. I almost stepped on it! It was so small, about the size of a very small apple. It was the cutest thing!!! Just pipping around, not really flying much. No idea how it ended where it was, as there was no tree nearby... But it made my morning :)

Another shot of my eye! this time with a silk veil that my mom gave me.

I was trying to take pictures looking all reflective and forlorn on the bed... when my hubby came out of the bathroom right when the shutter went. I thought it was quite funny and decided to keep it. All the other attempts were not as good - probably cos he wasn't there ;)

Glitter Toes

I recently put some glitter on my toenails. Since no one has noticed it so far, I decided to showcase them.
I really didn't have the time for anything else today. It's almost the end of the year, which means grading papers and writing report cards. The fun.

Almost Snow

It rained really hard today, but at the same time it was very sunny. I of course was taking pictures of it, and this turned up. I liked the fact that it looks like snow with a very sunny background. Snow in Cambodia! that'll be the day.
