Would-Be Apsara

Trying to emulate the spirit...

Red & White

I enjoyed the colours, the curves, the designs.

Street Vendor

They go around with their little carts, their pots, pans, stools, etc. They cook on the go for people who eat on the go. You can see them everywhere.
Post-treatment: crop.

I Am A Tree

I wanted to do something like this for a while. Something "Zen". I think the shadow looks kind of cool.
Post-treatment: crop, contrast, desaturation.

Mask

I think I almost scare myself on that one. Messing around with lighting.

Taken with a Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 HD Camcorder.

Black, White and Grey

An interesting pattern I found on a pillow. I thought B&W actually suited it better than colour.

V-Ball

Another stolen picture, a serendipity.

5-0

50th picture of the set! can't believe it. It's gone so fast.

Bindi

Showing my "spiritual" side...
I kind of have bags, but I think those come from wearing my glasses.

Stripes

Why not?

Holey pt 2

This one looks like it's a selective colouring but actually it hasn't been post-treated at all. I just liked the patterns and colours and then realised holes were a motif in my pictures today, just like movement was yesterday.

Taken with a Samsung SL605.

Holey pt 1

The table we were sitting at for lunch had holes in it. I thought it was funny, so I took this picture. You can faintly see my reflection as well as my husband's feet.

Impressionistic

Unbeknownst to me, my two pictures today reflect the Daily Shoot assignment for today.
This was taken under the rain. I loved the glistening on the cobbles, the lights, the dark, the motion too.

Taken with a Samsung SL605.

Miss Chievous

Another study on movement. It looks like the background is spinning, which of course it wasn't. Plus you get a picture of me doing a funny face.

Profile Picture

Hehe, geddit?
The wind was blowing through the open window... I wanted to show the movement. And my big nose.
Better pictures to come.

Coloured Flames

Wanted to take a picture and I moved at the last second. It created a cool effect.
Post-treatment: lightness and contrast adjusted.

Light Flower

Taken in one of the ice-cream parlours we got to. This was on the ceiling. The colours were exactly the same as on this picture. No post-treatment.

Tude

Because I can.

On the Bed

Yay, another pic of me on my bed. I'm just trying out different angles, etc.
Post-treatment: crop.

Tool of the Trade

Time to introduce my tripod. Mwahaha...
Funky angle totally calculated.

No Sharking

Taken at the same bar. Thought it was funny.

By the Pool Table

Taken at the Sharky's as we were waiting for the band. I dig the reflection.

Tired

And this is me, completely knackered after the concert. Couldn't do better than this, and I tried. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

Taken with a Samsung SL605.

Le Jardin

Picture taken during the Phnom Penh Hippie Orchestra gig, in which my hubby was playing. Very nice atmosphere, good crowd. Turns out one of our colleagues owns the place. Such a small world.

Wedding

It seems everybody is getting married every week here.
The look on that poor girl's face is priceless. I'm sorry I caught her unawares like that.
Post-treatment: crop.

Taken with a Samsung SL605.

...Softly

I wanted to do something that was reminiscent of the cover of Hope Sandoval's album "Through the Devil Softly". The idea is there but I might do a re-take on it.

Shake It

Another study on movement. I love the way this came out, it looks like a drawing.

Taken with a Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 HD Camcorder.

Because

The words of a child say it best: "I love Amara because I like you".
As they say, the people we love, we love them just the way they are.
Post-treatment: slight lightness/contrast added.

FEE!

The Daily Shoot gave me an idea for a shoot today. What could better fit the assignment than the official Fee Fatale sign? a mixture of peace, victory and rock'n'roll signs. FEE FTW!

Rain of Light

Those lights flash and it looks like it's raining light in the trees. A beautiful sight.

In Sink

Our new pet. He decided to settle in one of my sinks. He's tiny and cute. Kind of like me.

Just because I felt like it.

...to lay some vocals down for a collab. Setting the mood...
Post-treatment: crop.

A Line of Monks

This afternoon as I was on my way to this boy's house, I caught this incredible sight of about 40 - 50 (maybe more) monks all walking in line, off to... somewhere? I HAD to pull the camera out. I'm pretty glad of the way this picture came out. Given the circumstances and the few seconds I had, it couldn't have been better.

Neon

Taken at the Sharky's Bar as the band was rehearsing. Love the mirror effect and all the red. Even the blurriness looks kind of cool.

Taken with a Samsung SL605.

In the Tuk-Tuk

Couldn't take a picture for shit today, but still managed to get this one. I thought it was only normal, after talking about tuk-tuks so much, that I showed my mug in one of them.

Pipe

Wouldn't I look good with a pipe?
Again, something not serious at all. It feels good.

Taken with a Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 HD Camcorder.

Cyclo

I love those guys too. I haven't been in one yet but I'd like to.
I was looking for movement, I got it here.

On the Roof

We were invited to a party on a roof tonight. The view was pretty neat.
In the background, on the left-hand side, you can see the top of the Sorya Market building.

Taken with a Samsung SL605.

Punk

I wanted to have fun and do something with movement today, as well as trying to do a mock faux-hawk with my hair.
Post-treatment: crop.

Nihon

I hardly ever watch or read the news. But this info had to come to me. My heart and thoughts are with the whole country. This is my "little something". I do not pray, am not religious, and probably look like I have antennae on my head, but the intention was there. I wanted to showcase the colour red amongst the white to recall the flag. Hopefully it worked.
Post-treatment: luminosity, contrast, crop.

Taken with a Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 HD Camcorder.

Cat & Windowsill

This cat was probably not at home, but he was for sure acting like it. Typical cat! the underwear drying out might have enticed him...
Post-treatment: crop, contrast.

Walls

And that's how close the building in front is... that's why we hardly get any sun in. This is the view we have leaning out of the window.

Taken with a Samsung SL605.

Shadow

Taken at sunrise, the only time we actually have rays of sunshine in the apartment.

Half

I like the "negative space".
Can you believe I've been doing this for a month!
Post-treatment: desaturation.

Taken with a Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 HD Camcorder.

Blanc

Fluffy like clouds... Taken at the same bakery where I took the Riverside picture. I just liked the white on white effect.

Graffiti

I wanted to take a picture of this for a while. This is the only graffiti that I know of around here, and I find it pretty cool. The pic is a bit blurry because I was (once again) on the tuk-tuk.

Taken with a Samsung SL605.

Twins

I like the fact that my beauty marks look like a vampire bite :p I felt like taking a close-up picture today.
Post-treatment: bit of cropping.

Window

Couldn't take a decent picture for shit today. This one is the only thing that comes close. Tomorrow, eh?
Post-treatment: desaturation, crop.

Taken with a Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 HD Camcorder.

Riverside

Was eating on the balcony of the bakery and had this lovely view. Very Zen, isn't it?
